Tamalpa Racing Overview

There are four main areas of racing interest among the Tamalpa membership: TCRS, Cross Country, LDR (Road Racing), and ULTRA Distance.

The Tamalpa Club Run Series (TCRS) is a club event in which all members are welcome to participate. There are ten races a year and points are awarded depending on finish place in each race. Competition is strictly intra-club.

Cross Country racing (XC) is a series of ten races that take place in the Fall under the auspices of the Pacific Association of U.S.A. Track and Field. These races are mostly run on trails, grass, and fire roads, with minimal pavement involved. As a member of Tamalpa you will be competing against unattached athletes and other running club teams from Northern California.

Long Distance Running (LDR) includes both road and trail races in Northern California ranging from 10K to 50K. Tamalpa is well represented in these races and holds their own in team competition with other clubs in our area.

Ultra-distance running includes races from the marathon distance and beyond. Most Ultras are run on trails and range from 50K to 100 miles in length although some may go longer. Tamalpa has a number of very outstanding athletes who consistently finish in the top ten in many of these races.

Other opportunities for racing that various club members are involved in are triathlons, the Death Ride (cycling), adventure racing, and ride and tie (runners and horses), just to mention a few. Once you get to know some of your fellow club members you can usually find someone who is interested in just about any form of competition you can think of. And in Tamalpa, they will probably be top finishers in any event they enter.
