2006 TCRS # 8 Results

Coyote Ridge, Marin Headlands, Distance ~5.0 miles
September 10th, 2006
68 finishers - 16 women, 52 men

A bank of fog, resting on a ridgetop late on a warm afternoon, can be a thing of beauty. To be in the thick of it, so to speak, alters one's perspective somewhat. Such that one may have difficulty determining where the race actually starts. Coyote Ridge on a clear morning presents vistas that are spectacular, and we were not afforded those on this particular TCRS morning. The plus, though, was that the fog was so thick that we were protected from the visual reality of how steep the looming climbs ahead were. And the cooling effects were close to perfect for running conditions. Roy Kissin and Brad O'Brien staged a stirring duel, shoulder to shoulder for much of the race, before The Champ began polishing his nickname to pull away over the final mile. Karen Steele seemed quite pleased to return to the winner's circle after a month's respite. Kari and Bill Bushnell, and Leslie McMullin (!!), stood lonely outposts as valuable course monitors on this very gray September morning. Jen, Jay, Ana, Jody, Christine and Mark once again performed finish-line logistics ever so smoothly. Be forewarned: This year's Sam Taylor event on October 22 will begin at Platform Bridge Road, down the road apiece from the usual State Park entrance. It also won't be as pancake flat as usual. Look for details in The Gazette and the Website.
