Tamalpa sent 16 Male and 4 Female runners to the 2019 GVH Lagoon
Valley XC Challenge on 8/31/19 and fared very well on a HOT Saturday
Morning Race in Vacaville. We were able to field four Men’s Teams and
one Women’s Team. Markelle Taylor, once again, was the first male
Tamalpa finisher with a quick 17:43 on a hilly XC Course. Masters’ Runners
Pedro Cifuentes and Sergio Higareda were the next two male Tamalpa
Finishers and it appears as if dropping down a couple of Tamalpa Men
From older age groups that we will take 2nd Place in the M40-49 Age
Group. Don Porteous, Len Goldman and Jim Morris finished first,
second and third in the M70-79 Age Group and our Men’s Veteran’s
Team won it’s 3rd straight PAUSATF XC Race. Elmo Shropshire was
once again the first M80+ Age Group Finisher. Brad Bryon was the
second M60-69 finisher and led the Tamalpa Super Seniors to a first
place finish in the race. It appears as if we will also be able to field
a competitive M50-59 team dropping down excess runners from
older age groups. The Tamalpa Women were led by Kathy Herzog
with a time of 21:42. Teaming Kathy with Liz Shortino, Allison Kegley
and Adele Ho it appears as if we may be able to take second place in
the F40-49 Age Group. The next race on the PAUSATF XC Grand Prix
will be the 34th Annual Golden Gate Park Open in San Francisco next
Sunday, 9/8/19. Tamalpa is doing well so far on the PAUSATF XC
Grand Prix. Hopefully we will have a good turnout of Tamalpa
Runners for this Race. If you plan to run, make sure you have your
2019 USATF Card so that you can score for a Tamalpa Team.
