5 weeks to your best mile!
When: Sunday nights from 5 to 6pm in August and September
Where: San Jose Middle School
Time: 5:00pm to 6:00pm.
Who: Youth ages 3-13
What: Local high school runners & Tamalpa runners will coach runners to jump, sprint, throw, and train for their fastest mile in 5 weeks. Last practice is a track meet to see how fast you can run a mile!
How:
6:00-6:15 – Runners warm up with 1-2 laps on the track followed by stretching in groups based on their age
6:15-6:45 – Station Activities to practice Skills
Throwing Station
Jumping Station
Sprinting Station
Hurdles Station
6:45-7:10 – Intervals and practice training for the mile
Sprints based on age and ability
7:10-7:15 – Students earn feet for miles won & stretch

Participation includes: Team t-shirt, necklace and foot charms for each week in attendance, participation in final meet with ribbons and final race times.

Volunteer Opportunity: Many adults and local high school students enjoy running the events and coaching the young students. This is really an opportunity to mentor and encourage and be inspired by young people giving in their all. You don’t have to be a track and field expert.
